Meet Our Meditation Guides

Seasoned practitioners who have spent years exploring contemplative philosophy and mindfulness practice

Our Teaching Philosophy

We view meditation as more than clearing the mind or attaining a flawless state of calm. It resembles learning to stay with whatever arises—blueprint thoughts, planning tendencies, and even the odd itch that shows up shortly after sitting.

Our team combines decades of practice from diverse traditions. Some came to meditation through academic philosophy, others through personal hardship, and a few discovered it in college and stayed. What unites us is a commitment to teaching meditation as a practical skill for everyday life rather than a mystic pursuit.

Each guide has their own way of explaining ideas. Ravi tends to use everyday analogies, while Ananya draws on her psychology background. We’ve found that different styles resonate with different people, so you’re likely to connect with certain approaches more than others.

Arun Kapoor

Lead Instructor

Arun began his meditation journey in 1998 after burnout in his software engineering career. He spent three years studying Vipassana in Myanmar and later trained in Zen meditation in Japan. His strength lies in explaining ancient ideas through surprisingly contemporary analogies—he once compared the monkey mind to having too many browser tabs open.

He leads our foundational courses and specializes in helping busy professionals cultivate practical, sustainable mindfulness practices. His sessions often include practical discussions about weaving mindfulness into work life and managing stress without spiritual bypassing.

Maya Chen

Philosophy Guide

Maya blends her PhD in United States Philosophy with fifteen years of personal meditation practice. She discovered contemplative practice while researching ancient texts and realized that academic knowledge means little without experiential understanding. Her approach links scholarly insight with practical application.

She leads our deeper philosophical explorations and retreat programs. Maya has a talent for making intricate philosophical concepts accessible without oversimplifying them. Students often note that she helps them grasp not only how to meditate, but why these practices evolved and what they aim to uncover.

Why We Teach This Way

After years of practice and teaching, we’ve found that meditation thrives when it’s demystified. We don’t promise enlightenment or claim you’ll reach perfect tranquility. Instead, we focus on building skills that help you navigate life’s inevitable challenges with greater awareness and less reactivity.

Our courses begin in September 2025, giving you time to decide whether this approach resonates. We believe in taking a thoughtful pace when choosing contemplative practice—not rushing in on a momentary impulse.

If you’re curious about learning meditation as a practical life skill rather than a spiritual pursuit, we’d be honored to guide your exploration. The practice has subtly but profoundly transformed our own lives, and we’ve seen it do the same for many others.
